Tennis Bracelet Guide: Carat, Stone Size and Price
The short answer: a tennis bracelet's carat weight is the total of all its stones. What you actually see is the size of each stone and how many there are. In Divara's range, a 2-carat lab-grown diamond tennis bracelet in 9K gold starts at A$4,250, 7–8 carat designs run from about A$8,100 to A$10,100, and 12-carat designs start at A$10,670. The same designs with moissanite cost roughly 45–65% of the lab-grown price.
What does the carat weight of a tennis bracelet mean?
It's the combined weight of every stone. Divide it by the number of stones to get the size of each one, and that is what sets the look. Thirty small stones and twenty larger ones can weigh the same and look completely different. Real examples from our range, priced on 29 October 2026 in 9K yellow gold:

How many carats should a tennis bracelet be?
- Around 2 to 4 carats: a fine, delicate line that layers easily with a watch or other bracelets.
- Around 6 to 10 carats: clearly visible across a room, still comfortable for everyday wear.
- 12 carats and up: a statement piece, with stones from about a third of a carat each and larger.
Stone size matters as much as the total. The 10-carat bracelet above has fewer, bigger stones (0.50 ct each) than the 12-carat claw design (0.38 ct each), so each stone in it looks larger.
Which stone shape suits a tennis bracelet?
Round stones give the most sparkle and the classic continuous line. Emerald cuts and baguettes are step cut, so they flash in broad planes rather than sparkle, a calmer and more architectural look. Ovals, pears and marquise cuts make a more distinctive line; pears and marquise are often set in alternating directions. Princess cuts make a crisp, square-edged line. See the diamond shapes guide.
Claw, bezel, collet or double row?
- Claw (prong): lets in the most light, for maximum sparkle. The stones sit more exposed, so check the claws periodically.
- Bezel or collet: a rim of metal around each stone protects its edges and catches less on knitwear, with a slightly softer sparkle.
- Double row: two lines of smaller stones for a wider, fuller band.
Should I choose 9K or 18K gold for a tennis bracelet?
A bracelet carries far more gold than a ring, so the karat makes a bigger price difference. On the Aurora 7 Carat Round Collet, 9K is A$8,680 and 18K is A$10,120, a difference of A$1,440. 9K is harder and more scratch-resistant for something knocked against desks and doorframes; 18K has the richest colour. Read 9K vs 14K vs 18K gold.
Lab-grown diamond or moissanite?
Both are durable enough for a bracelet worn every day. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, hardness 10, with a classic white sparkle. Moissanite is a different gemstone, hardness 9.25, with stronger rainbow fire, and on our bracelets it costs roughly 45–65% of the lab-grown price. Every made-to-order bracelet lets you choose either. Compare them in the moissanite guide.
How long is a tennis bracelet?
Divara's standard tennis bracelet length is 17.8 cm (7 inches). To check it suits you, measure your wrist snugly with a soft tape just above the wrist bone. A tennis bracelet should move a little, without sliding far over your hand. If the standard length won't suit, ask us about a different length before you order a made-to-order bracelet.
How do I look after a tennis bracelet?
Check the clasp every time you put it on, and take the bracelet off for the gym, gardening and swimming. Clean it with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, then dry it well. Have the settings checked periodically by a jeweller. More in the jewellery care guide.
