Divara Warranty and Authenticity Guarantee Explained

Buying fine jewellery online means trusting a brand you can't hold in your hand before you commit. That trust rests on clear policies, not vague promises. This guide sets out exactly what Divara's warranty and authenticity guarantee cover, how the process works if something goes wrong, and how these protections sit alongside our returns policy, resizing policy, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law. What Divara's 12-Month Workmanship Warranty Covers

Every piece of Divara jewellery is backed by a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date of delivery. This warranty covers manufacturing faults — issues that arise from how the piece was made, not from how it was worn. If a claw comes loose because it wasn't set correctly, a clasp fails due to a construction fault, or a setting shows a defect that traces back to the manufacturing process, that falls within the warranty. In these cases, we'll assess the piece and arrange a repair or replacement as appropriate.

The purpose of this warranty is simple: you shouldn't have to pay to fix a problem that was there from the start. It's our way of standing behind the quality of our work.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

It's just as important to understand the limits of the warranty as its coverage. The 12-month workmanship warranty does not cover wear-and-tear, accidental damage, or loss. This means everyday wear that gradually affects a piece — a worn prong, a scratched band, or thinning metal from years of use — isn't a manufacturing fault, so it sits outside this warranty. The same applies to accidental damage, such as a ring caught on a surface or dropped, and to items that are lost or misplaced. Being upfront about these boundaries means you know exactly what protection you're getting when you purchase from us, rather than discovering the gaps only when you need them.

How Divara Handles Authenticity Disputes

Occasionally, a customer may have a genuine question about whether a stone or piece matches what was described at the time of purchase. When this happens, Divara arranges independent verification of the item in question. This means the piece is assessed by a party outside Divara, so the outcome isn't something we determine ourselves.

If that independent verification upholds the claim — meaning the piece doesn't match what was represented — Divara covers the cost of the verification process. If the verification does not uphold the claim, the cost of that verification is covered by the customer. This structure exists so that raising a genuine concern doesn't come with a financial barrier when you're right, while keeping the assessment itself independent and impartial rather than our own say-so.

Why IGI Certification Matters Before You Buy

Some protections matter most after a purchase; others matter before you even add an item to your cart. As a general policy, Divara certifies lab-grown diamond pieces above 1 carat total weight (CTW) with the International Gemological Institute (IGI). IGI is an independent, internationally recognised gemological body, and its certification documents the diamond's characteristics as assessed by that third party.

The value of this certification is that it gives you information upfront, verified independently, rather than asking you to take specifications on faith. It's a different kind of assurance to the warranty or the authenticity dispute process — those exist to protect you after the fact, while IGI certification on eligible pieces gives you confidence at the point of decision.

Warranty vs Returns vs Resizing: What's the Difference

These three policies solve different problems, and it helps to know which one applies to your situation.

  • Change of mind: You have 30 days from delivery to return an item if you simply change your mind. In this case, you cover the cost of return shipping.
  • Faulty or incorrect items: If we've sent the wrong item, or the piece is faulty, you're entitled to a full refund or replacement, and Divara covers the return shipping cost.
  • Custom or made-to-order pieces: These are not returnable for change of mind, since they're made specifically for you. The exception is a genuine defect, which is handled the same way as any faulty item.
  • Resizing: Eligible ring styles — solid band designs — come with one free resize within 60 days of purchase. Eternity settings, pavé designs, and some plated styles may not be resizable due to how they're constructed, so it's worth checking a style's resizing eligibility before you buy if fit is a concern. Note that once a ring has been resized, it's also no longer eligible for a change-of-mind return.

The warranty, by contrast, isn't about a change of heart or a sizing issue — it's specifically about manufacturing faults discovered after the return and resizing windows may have closed. All domestic orders also ship free within Australia, arriving in 3–7 business days in plain, unbranded packaging, with a signature required on delivery.

Your Statutory Rights Under Australian Consumer Law

None of the above replaces your existing legal protections. Under Australian Consumer Law, products sold in Australia come with statutory guarantees — including that they are of acceptable quality and fit for purpose — regardless of any warranty a business offers on top. Divara's 12-month workmanship warranty is an additional layer of assurance; it supplements your statutory guarantees but does not override, limit, or replace them. If you have questions about how a specific situation applies to your consumer rights, those guarantees stand independently of the timeframes and terms described in this article.

Understanding these policies before you buy — and knowing where to look if you ever need them — is part of buying with confidence. If anything here raises a question specific to your order, our customer support team can walk you through how it applies.
